Tattoo Art at this year’s “Thunder” Biker’s Rally

CHOICES! CHOICES! TATTOO or…. BELGIAN WAFFLE? I must admit, there was part of me that wanted to get a tattoo while I attended “Thunder In the Forge” this weekend in Old Forge. And there was plenty of opportunity (I think I counted at least 7 tattoo artists hard at work while I was there!) But then, all I could think of was that I had better ways to spend fifty bucks (the lowest price for a tattoo) and instead tried out some of the new dishes from the kitchen at the Mountaineer Restaurant (Oh, did I mention the Belgian Waffles I had at the $5 Breakfast each morning…) Let’s see now, tattoo (pain) or Belgian Waffle? Some things are just no-brainers. Took me all of about ten minutes to chow down this incredible Belgian baby. And, since I had it at the Biker Breakfast that we were hosting, I got to ENJOY the tattoos that many of the Bikers sported who were enjoying THEIR meals around me! But should I ever change my mind, or someone wills me $50 bucks with the stipulation that it be spent on a tattoo, I DEFINITELY want one of the weird anatomically correct designs I stumbled upon tonight… CLICK HERE …. Creepy, EH? Maybe I am secretly a true biker at heart. Or maybe, just maybe – I’ve come away from this weekend a little bit changed. Some of the body art was really impressive? ….BUT…What some people won’t do (or spend) in order to make a statement! I must admit I wonder about some people’s choices. This morning I stood behind a nice looking young man at the local diner who had tattooed on his upper arm “Born To Lose”. My thoughts? Why broadcast it?

So, set me straight here. Should I opt for an anatomically correct tattoo next year at Thunder? Or stick to the Belgians? I’m waffling on my decision…. (hehehe). Input welcome.

Thunder crowds….

The crowd Saturday in the Pavillion at Thunder in Old Forge

The crowds grew as the sun rose and storm clouds abated. Riders filled the town, the local roads, and booths (especially the tattoo booths) at the Hildebrandt pavilion in Old Forge this weekend. Our $5 Biker Breakfast continues to be popular (the Belgian waffles are my favorite!) at the North Woods Inn!
